Felting day
Our next felting day is this Saturday, 2 April 2022.  We will be signing in and keeping our tables well spaced out.  It seemed to work OK last month with people wearing, or not wearing their masks, as they felt like it. Please, if you feel unwell stay home, and only come if you are going to do some work.  We usually welcome visitors by maybe another day if you just want to come for a look.

Exhibition
We have two things coming up this year.  We have booked space at the Christchurch South Library for an exhibition.  This starts on the week of Monday 1 August.  Plenty of time to think about things to make.  It needs to be suitable for hanging and we hang them quite high so people can't touch them.

Creative Fibre Event
This is open to Creative Fibre members so make sure you join or renew your membership.  This is separate from Southern Felters.  Planning for the Celebration of Fibre event in September is underway with an exciting programme over one and a half days.  There will be workshops to choose to attend if you wish, demonstrations and the opportunity to work on your own project while you mix, meet and chat with other creative people.  There will also be a seminar and a parade celebrating past and present fibre creations.  More details, including cost and enrolment information, will be sent soon.

The dates for your diary:
Friday 9 September 2.30pm - 8.00pm
Saturday 10 September 9.30am - 5.15pm

The venue is the Christchurch Bridge Club and all Creative Fibre Members, Canterbury and beyond,  are invited to attend.

AREA EXHIBITION 2022
The Area Committee are looking for Expressions of Interest from members for new team members to learn about setting up the Exhibition at the Canterbury Museum in September 2022.  The exhibition team that have been doing it for some years feel that it is time that some members might like to be involved in the process of setting up the exhibition.  This would be a good opportunity if anyone was interested in setting up displays.

Barry Harding is retiring from his woodcraft work and has asked me to continue to provide the same service to all the people that require wooden hat blocks.  He has asked me to convey to all those craft people who have ordered hat blocks over the years a huge thank you and to wish them many more years of hat making.

My name is Paul Dangerfield and I live at 7 Spinnaker Drive, Flagstaff, Hamilton 3210.  My email address is pedangerfield@gmail.com and phone numbers are 07 853 2259 and 027 453 8690.

I will try and provide the same good services as Barry has.  My charges are:

Round Hat Blocks $75
Oval Hat Blocks $145
Hat Stands a base for the hat block which allows the block to rotate (it will fit any blocks made by me) $50,
plus courier costs to your address.

If it is convenient for you, then your items can be collected from my address.  Please email me with your request indicating the size required (normally the circumference) and any other requirements you may have.

Felting day cancelled

This will not be a surprise to anyone.  Felting day this Saturday is cancelled due to us all being at level 3.  I hope lockdown is being kind to you and that you had a good stash that you have been able to access.  I'm sure you all did.  Thinking of the essential workers amongst us who have had to continue to work and we all thank you.
