Our felt on display at Down By the Liffey

Our exhibition opens on Tuesday 11th June. All fellow felters are invited to the opening -please wear some of your felt. 7.00 to 8.30 pm at Down By The Liffey in Lincoln
If you can't make the opening make sure you go out to Lincoln for a look before Sunday 7th July. Check the Liffey's opening hours first.




Winter Felting day Birdlings Flat

Let’s celebrate the shortest day by felting at Birdlings Flat

Saturday 22nd June

We can accommodate 8 single tables probably including a large committee table. There are also 2 or 3 smaller tables but we will need some of our own also. If you want a day off felting and want to join us for a non felting activity, that may also be an option.

The Mapua Creative Fibre Group winter retreat

The Mapua Creative Fibre Group would like to extend a warm invitation to join us at this year's winter retreat, called Tea, Tattle & Texture, held at Teapot Valley from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 August 2019. For a registration pack contact cf.winter.retreat@gmail.com

* Registration Form. This is an editable document so you can complete it on your computer and email it to us. It includes details about how to pay and register.
* Weekend Programme. Schedule and overview of the awesome stuff happening over the weekend.
* Creative Sessions. Details and requirements for the Creative Sessions. If you'd like to do any of these sessions, please read this and come prepared.
* Indigo & Shibori Workshops. Details and requirements for these 3 x 3 hour workshops run by Liz Wilson. If you'd like to do any of the workshops, please read this and come prepared.
* Checklist & Show Off Tags. Checklist to help you remember what to bring, plus tags for any items you'd like to display on the Show Off table.
* Medical Info Form. Only to be completed if you have a medical condition that you'd like us to know about, so our Medical Officer can be available to support you over the weekend.

2020 Wearable Art Group Challenge - Fashion

Creative Fibre Group Project.
The next Group Challenge will therefore be held in Nelson May 7th - 10th 2020. Information regarding the Challengewill be included in the June Magazine however the event is now only about 8 months away so here is a summary.

2020 Wearable Art Group Challenge - Fashion
To be held at the Creative Fibre Education event in Nelson.
Nelson is the home of WOW and the next fashion challenge will be to create a wearable art garment that focuses on the diversity of fibre skills and techniques represented by Creative Fibre. The theme for the event is sea, sun, fibre, fun and your garment should interpret this theme.
Guidelines
Teams need to comprise of 4 or more participants, one of which is to be the model. All team members are required to be CF members. Teams DO NOT have to all belong to one Creative Fibre group or area.
Entry application due before 1 August 2019.
Entry application fee $10.
Use as many techniques as required to creative your one of a kind wearable art garment.
Give your team a creative name.
Each team is to create a design journal to include processes and photographs charting progress. This design journal is to be part of your entry.
Teams are to also do a press release. This can be either through a newspaper report or a magazine article. Information on how to develop a press release will be sent to you.
Object
To encourage collaboration and identify strengths within the team.
Preserve the heritage of our craft/art while being forward focussed into the future of our craft.
Promote, encourage and gain confidence with the team members. (i.e. entry into Runway/Exhibition both National and Area in the future).
Help promote Creative Fibre to the wider community.
Have fun.
All entries are required to be on display. A 1m x 1m space will be allocated to each team for their static display. Teams are required to provide all props required for their display. Garments will be modelled as part of a walk-through parade. This will take part on the afternoon of Thursday 7 May as part of the opening ceremony. Teams will have between 9.00am and 10.30 am Friday 8 May to set up their static display. Garments will be on display until 4.30pm Saturday.

Selection of the winning entry will be carried out by 3 independent judges. Judging will be based on static display, journal and model parade. The judging criteria will be sent you. The winning team will be announced at the Closing Ceremony.
Winning team will receive a $1000 education grant. Think outside the box i.e. colour, recycled, upcycled, $2 shop finds, bits of wire etc all of which can be transformed into something outstanding. Go crazy, get those creative juices flowing and give your creation the wow factor.
