The Textile and Fibre Arts Network have sent information about the 2015 De Clutter sale.
February 7th 2015 (Waitangi Weekend )
Our annual De Clutter Sale is booked for the 7th of February 2015. We are asking for your support by way of donation of goods to sell & volunteers to man the stalls on the day.
WANTED: books, magazines, material, wool, UFOs, patchwork stuff, embroidery stuff, complete pieces that you don’t like any more, in fact anything that is at all craft related that you no longer require would be great. Clean out your stash, then come along & grab some bargains on the day.
Thank you all in anticipation

Glenroy Felters retreat
Well, another long weekend of felting and no housework is over. It was fantastic with good company and great food. Two of our stalwart felters didn't make it at the last minute this year and we all missed them. We worked on a communal project with everyone providing a pre-felt and spending time rolling. See the photos. We created two beautiful rugs and have given one of them to Ralda Williamson with our Get Well thoughts. Isla Clark also sent back the felted flowers we made for her last year. She has attached them to the flowery felt background we made and she wanted us to see the finished result. See the photo of this as well.
Thank you to Carole who did the emailing and paperwork to organise the weekend. Victoria is having a well earned break after starting the first Genroy felters retreat in 2011 and organised it every year since (not quite single handedly, but nearly). Thank you Victoria.
The next 4 day retreat at glenroy is planned for 15 - 18 May 2015. Get in touch with Carole if you want to go on the list for information. At this stage there is not going to be a November weekend next year as the Glenroy camp is fully booked.

Making a small felt bag
Don't forget that Anna will be available at our next felting day (October 18th) to show people how to make a small felt bag. Here is a photo of the sort of bag she intends to make.
If you made a Worry Eater at the last day don't forget to bring it along so we can all see how it came out.

Felting that converts from wall art to a garment
Here is an interesting thing - a felted garment designed by Deb Cumming and Nina Weaver at Massey University. When it isn't being worn the garment becomes part of the wall art - ie it sticks to the wall. http://www.campaignforwool.co.nz/flight/

Next felting day
Anna has volunteered to show us how she makes small bags at our next felting day - Saturday October 18 2014. The bag will be small with a handle made using a resist. Anna says these bags make great Christmas presents so once you see how it is done you can make your own. As usual people are welcome to bring their own projects to work on in a friendly atmosphere.

Dont forget the felting day this weekend
Hi All,
Don't forget we have a felting day this Saturday. New people are welcome to come along. We have an activity this time. We will be making Worry Eaters. You will need to google Worry Eater to find out what this is - or see my recent post. Making a Worry Eater is not compulsory but if you want to - you will need to bring: some carded wool in colours of your choice (you can buy this on the day), dishwashing liquid, a container for a small amount of hot water, a 1m length of bubblewrap and some thick plastic for making a resist from. Items you can bring or borrow on the day: a net curtain, a builders drop sheet (very thin plastic sheeting), a pool noodle. To finish your worry eater you will need a roughly 12 cm zip and two big buttons.

We are planning something a bit different for the next felting day on Saturday 26 July. This will suit new people and our regulars. We are going to be making Worry Eaters. This is not compulsory, its optional, everyone is free to do their own projects as usual but we will have a group making Worry Eaters. Worry Eaters make great presents, they are small felted bags with eyes and personality. They have a zip for the mouth. If you have worries you write them down on a piece of paper, unzip the zip and "feed" your worry to the Worry Eater - problem solved. Come and join us for the day and have some fun. All you will need is some wool (you can buy this on the day) and we can provide most other things if you are new to felting. See you there.
Changes to felting day dates
We are not going to be having any more Thursday felting days this year as we don't seem to be getting a good turnout and we aren't breaking even on hiring the hall. We are still running our Saturday Felting days so come along to the next one on Saturday 26 July - put this and Saturday 18 October in your diaries now.
